Lest We Forget

Today it's Anzac Day ... a Day to remember all those who gave of themselves and fought for our country... So today ... I am thankful for this day off but more so for the sacrifice of these men and women and the freedom which we can now enjoy today.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
... Lest We forget

Cute Card Thursday :: Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

It's that time of week again ... Time for the Cute Card Thursday Challenge:

Challenge 7
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

There are some very lovely cards by the Design team again this week!!! check them out here

I used a Lola Rose's Little Sister Lilli image from Pink Petticoat
and coloured it in with watercolours ... adding some ribbon and eyelets as embellishments!!

My little sister stayed over last night and so we made cards together for the challenge ... she does not have a blog so I am posting her card here! She drew it all herself :)

I made this card for my little sister, she is an Artist and has just had an exhibition where she sold 6 paintings!! whoo! I made this card as a 'well done' for her and also as an inspiration - she is saving to go and paint in Paris for a year!! :)

I have used the 'Artist Dottie' by Louly just LOVE Dottie :)

PTW :: Katharina's sketch #2

Here is my card for this week's Papertake Weekly Challenge.

This is a sketch challenge by Katharina

Pink Petticoat's Lola Rose and her little sister Lilli

These are the cards that I have made using "Lola rose and her Little Sister Lilli" stamps...

My first ever card using Lola Rose - I just love her - she's so elegant! I stuck with the purple and the yellow colors that were in the paper patterns .. I think it came out ok... (I had to, as I often do - outline her with gel pen, after I'd coloured her in)!

Let me know (honestly) what you think!

This one is for a good friend.. she has been a friend for many years. Over the last 7 years or so we have not really seen each other at all but she is often in my thoughts and prayers and has a special place in my heart as she has been a very encouraging friend and always points me to Jesus Christ... We are in sporadic contact through blogging and facebook ... This card will be a couple of weeks late but I was away during her birthday (not a good excuse really) and would really like to send her something so this is it :)

What do you think ... How many weeks after a birthday can you send a Belated Birthday card?

stay tuned for some cards of Lola Rose's little sister Lilli :)

My first Dottie card

Here is my first Dottie card .. it's for the daughter of a close friend ... It feels like just yesterday that she was born but now she is at school ... Their family moved to "woop woop" (country SA) many years ago and I really miss my good friend Jen! :(

you can download Dottie here!

Excited by digital downloads

Well - I have been busy ... I have bought some digital downloads and have been sooooo excited. DH has been having a few laughs about my excitement :)

I have always been fairly creative (into Art and lots of crafts), I was a Creative Memories Consultant for a year or two BUT I have not been doing this stamping/ cardmaking blog for long (Jan 12th '08) and am pretty new to the whole craft of stamping (Mar 13th '08 - before that just some random stamps here and there) so I am learning LOTS everyday and enjoying being inspired by many peoples blogs and cards... THANKS everyone!!! I have become somewhat of a challenge junkie :) AND I absolutely adore my sisterhood of the blogging stampers (Group #15)!! check out their blogs with the links on the right.

When wanting to enter some challenges and not having the required stamps I drew my own pictures on the computer and a then a couple more I drew by hand, then photographed and printed them out to colour ... I would really like one day to design my own range ... stamps (or perhaps digital downloads?) so this has been on the back of my mind for a few weeks/ months and then ...

I found Dottie! she is so cute :) Louly has done a FANTASTIC job creating her! she is a very talented and creative lady!!! I have now downloaded Dottie and LOVE her!! I am really enjoying colouring her and making some cards!

I'm ready to colour her

I have also been subscribed to the Pink Petticoat newsletter for some time now and finally (a couple of days ago) downloaded some stamp downloads :: Lola rose and her little sister Lilli
oooh.... I LOVE them too. check out their Designer Liz's blog , she is another very talented lady!

I've started colouring Lilli

These are so inspirational AND did I mention I was excited by them?? ... I will not stop until I have made a card from EVERY one of these downloads I have.... AND meanwhile ... I will keep thinking about my own designs and just maybe one day there will be some :)

QUESTIONS for you ...
1. what do you think about Digital download vs Stamps
2. What sort of stamps would you like that are not available (if any)

this one is for Korin's Fantastic Friday challenge 4/18
"Make a card using 3 different embellishments (i.e. brads, ribbon, flowers, etc...)"

I found her blog this morning through one of my lovely blogging sisters : Jessica's blog.

I decided to make the card for this challenge a card one that I could give to my younger sister, Sian, as I have just found an earing that she left here about a year ago and I found it a while ago to send to her and then lost it again!! I found it yesterday ... so now I will pop it in the mail on Monday along with this card :)

Cute Card Thursday :: It's a Man's World

I made this card for the Cute Card Thursday challenge

I made it for my husband who loves lego - he collects it ... It was his idea for me to make a lego card - no stamps on today's card just a whole heap of punching, cutting and sticking!

He also came home from grocery shopping today with a bag from BigW - they were having a scrapbooking sale with items at .50c + ... He got me some cute stamps and embellishments!! Looking forward to using them tomorrow!!

"Home again home again jiggedy jig"

We are home again after a LOVELY holiday in Adelaide! It was VERY fun staying with our friends Mike and Ally ... Ally and I were in residential college together in 1998 (another close friend from that time, Bron also was there for the week and our other friend Lainy lives in Adelaide too ... so it was a nice time of reminiscing and catching up on each others lives)!!

the four of us girls at McLaren Vale - we went on a Blessed Cheese (and wine) tour!

Mike and Ally have 4 kids aged 5 and under and so it was quite an experience living with them for a week - It was really lovely and special to spend time with them as a family and see how their family works! ... I even enjoyed feeding babies and did not mind "too" much about changing a few dirty nappies!

I am honoured to be a godparent to one of their baby girls :) very exciting and am looking forward to seeing her and her siblings grow up :) I made a framed prayer for her which I decorated with some stamps and gel pens and Creative memories stickers!!

I hope that one day it will have meaning for her!!

It was nice to be out of Sydney and the busy-ness of this city!!!
It was fun to hang out with friends... It was Lain (and her Mum- Jen's) Birthday on Friday - Here are the cards that I made for them..

We were looking through the Women's Weekly birthday cake book to see what cake to make and were going to make a bunch of flower cupcakes... although at someone's suggestion (oops - it may have been me) we changed it to faces of those in the family/ at the party... Here is a photo of our efforts - I liked the ones Ally decorated best!!

the final presentation!!!

the Sammi cupcake - decorated by Ally!!!

And now we are home again - It will be nice to sleep in our own bed :) but I will miss our friends and the less busy city of Adelaide... we now have 1 more week off - YAY!!! Lot's of time to create and blog (and perhaps clean out some cupboards which I said I would do in holidays)

Right now :: I'm thankful to God for the chance for a holiday ... for friendship ... and for his great love for us in Jesus! :)

Challenge winner!

Today I have 2 awards - how very exciting!!!

Thanks to Joana who has passed on this Arte Y Pico award to me :) :) :)
The rules of this award

1. You have to pick 5 blogs that you consider deserve this award for their creativity, design, interesting material and also contributes to the blogging community ,no matter what language.
2. Each award has to give the name of the author and also a link to his or her blog to be visited by everyone.
3. Each award winner has to show the award and put the name and link to the blog that has given her or him the award itself.
4. Award winner and the one who has given the prize have to show the link of Arte y Pico blog, so everyone will know the origin of this award.
5. To show these rules.

It doesn't say people can;t receive it more than once and some of these if not all may already have this award - but I think they deserve it, so I pass it onto:

Kelly
Teresa
Yesy
Marlene
Nikki

And the lovely Emma has given me this award: I am flattered!

I would like to pass this one onto these people:
Monica who is doing a brilliant job of admin of our SBS15 group and she also has a great blog and takes the time to write lovely, encouraging comments.
Robyn is inspiring - a mother of 5 :) wow that's worth an award or 2 ... and she has a lovely blog and also leaves nice comments and she and her son took my challenge! :)
and
Jessica who gave me my first ever award and definitely made my day ... she also leaves encouraging comments and has some really great card on her great blog!

AND Thanks to everyone for visiting - you really do all make my day - thanks!

Arte y Pico

Wow - I'm stoked - Today, I received My first award :) Thanks Jessica :)

There are 5 rules attached to this and they are:

1) You have to pick 5 blogs that you consider deserve this award for their creativity, design, interesting material, and also contributes to the blogging community, no matter what language.
2) Each award has to have the name of the author and also a link to his or her blog to be visited by everyone.
3)Each award winner has to show the award and put the name and the link to the blog that has given her or him the award itself. Here is Jessica's lovely Blog!
4) Award-winner and the one who has given the prize have to show the link of "Arte y Pico" blog , so everyone will know the origin of this award. http://arteypico.blogspot.com/
5) To show these rules.

It's quite hard to choose only 5, but here are my choices:

Lainy - one of my blogging sisters - A fun blog - I love looking at her cards
Emma - another of the fantastic SBS15 girls - she has some gorgeous work!
Kim - one more sister ... with some great creations to show!
Steph - because she was very friendly and helpful, responding to my silly emails and she has a fantastic blog and a great challenge site too.
Andrea - very creative ... lovely cards and great blog - one of the authors too of the Cute Card Thursday Challenge site

And that's it - there are many more people that I'd love to pass on the award to but I could only give it to 5 :( Although I'd love to - I couldn't choose them all, make sure you go and check out my other sisterhood of the blogging stampers group#15 girls! the links are all on the right sidebar!
