Making a slide card
Here are the instructions I have put together for making the slide card as in this card I made.
Decide where you would like to have the sliding image...In this example (pictured) I decided I would put it 25mm up from the bottom of the card.
Cut two parallel lines 10mm apart* stopping at least 10mm from the edge of the card. I used my CM 12" cutter but you could draw the lines using a ruler and then cut the lines with a craft knife.
You then need a piece of card 10mmX30mm. Fold it around the track and fasten with a glue dot/ adhesive.
Attach your stamped (+ coloured) image to the front of the sliding card piece.
Turn the card over and attach ribbon to the other side of the sliding card piece
Check that the images slides both ways! Now decorate the card as you wish!!
You could stick card on the inside to hide the ribbon if you like. It makes it a bit neater and also makes the ribbon sit neatly at the sides.
*this could be smaller - I just realised that the magazine I originally looked at said to put it 3mm apart. It might be a good idea to use a smaller width for smaller images.
This is my first attempt at giving instructions for something on the blog... let me know if they are unclear / don't make sense etc :)

Dottie's World :: Holes
The challenge this week on Dottie's World is "Holes"
"This week I want to see you making holes in your projects (no pin pricks, they don't count! (evil laugh again). The holes can be in the actual card or on an element of your card, like mesh or netting. Oh and of course it goes without saying, you have to use a Charmed download too!"
Well this was perfect - I have been looking at a technique in a magazine this past week about making patterns using holes and was hoping to try it out so I've given it a bit of a go here although the pattern is a bit random.. I used the Serenditpity technique in the background and then stuck the coloured paper which I had made holes with my eyelet tool on top -- I'm pretty pleased with it... - the colours show up kinda like disco lights.
*** Jac - For my last Dottie card I used the Creative Memories Custom Cutting System to make the shape of the card.... I will post a photo later in the week ... I will also post instructions for the slide card later in the week too! ***

Dottie's World :: Floral
So the challenge this week on Dottie's World is "Floral".
Go and have a look - those ladies have made FABULOUS cards again!
I Thought I'd go with a flower shaped card!!...and also added some hand doodled flowers!!
I love this Dottie!! getting all glammed up :)
The photo was not that good being night time and all...We have a working light and a tripod... they are both good for taking photos at night! It's amazing how changing the contrast makes such a big difference! (thanks Louly!)*see Louly's camera tips - here*
Juliet challenged herself to use all the images she has not yet and invited us to join her... I think I can do that as I have almost used them all now (all the ones I have!) ... I think that means I shall have to purchase another download sometime soon! :)
Stay tuned for Clown Dottie, Disco Dottie and Skipping Dottie... they are coloured but just need homes (cards) to be stuck onto!! :)

Another birthday :)
Here is another birthday card I made during the past week...for a little boy! I made my first ever "slide card" (thanks to the "Stamping and Papercraft" mag I got in April on holidays)!
You just pull the ribbon to make the car move across the card.. pretty cool! If you'd like to know how to make it just post a comment and I'll give you the instructions!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
I made this card for a very lovely person (She is our Minister's wife/ My Boss's wife) and today she turns 40 ... We will help her celebrate on the weekend!
Guy was going to put this card in their letterbox on his way to work today - Isn't he great!!!
I have not been that well the past 2 days... have not been to work since Monday - which was a very long day... I guess I overdid it ... I am still recovering and trying to get some energy!! Have SLEPT a lot these last 2 days. I'm just so tired and sore - I want to make cards but I don't even have the energy for that!
Monday night was our church Delightful Night for Women and we did cardmaking with Japanese papers and orgami (we also had a talk on "Jesus - Worth waiting for" ... I had helped last Monday in cutting up paper and cardboard for the cards and then we just had soo many people coming that we decided we needed MORE!! so Monday afternoon I cut up more cards/ paper (+Toni had already cut up more before that) ... We had about 60 people there to make cards and I was one of the demonstrators (my table was making simple cards using "Far East Papers" and adhesive ribbons or Raffia ribbons), so I had 5 tables full of women in a row and had to speak over the noise of the other chattering women in the room to explain what to do.
It was a good night! They did make some good cards and enjoyed it
... Unfortunately I did not get photos of the cards as I was too busy...

Dottie's World :: Stripes and Stitching
The challenge (set by Juliet) on Dottie's world this week is to use:
a 'Dottie's World" download as well as both stripes and stitching.
I have been wanting to improve my stitching on my cards and so I decided to make not one but 2 cards this week! Both cards are made with the "Fun Time Dottie" download... I have ALMOST used all of them (from Fun time) now....hmmmmm.....
1. Swimming Dottie :: Poor Dottie is looking a bit blue... she must have been underwater for too long!!
2. Shopping Dottie :: she's looking a bit brighter after some retail therapy! :)
