Oh Alice ... CHAPTER 37: Halloween in WONDERLAND...

Hey everyone!

We have a "just for fun" post today here in Wonderland that doesn't follow a book excerpt or poem ... just a good ol' fashioned HALLOWEEN theme!
After all, tomorrow IS Halloween and it's time to showcase some fun projects, and many of us are using the Graphic 45 special line of papers, Halloween in Wonderland!

I did use the G45 paper that I was lucky enough to get for my birthday from my lovely hubby and sister this year!! I have also used a diecut "doiley" that the lovely Mel gave me last night at Copics Anonymous. The image is a Creepy cakes digi from The Greeting Farm :) and I've coloured her with Copics ... most of the BVs + V12, 15, 17, E000, E00, E11, R11, T1, 3, 5, 7

We really hope you enjoy our projects today and that you feel like playing along! Today our VERY generous DT member Ky is offering up a set of Alice stamps by Elaine Cox! Even more of a reason to get creepy or crafty this week and show us what you can do!

Oh Alice ... CHAPTER 35: CHESS - CHESSBOARD - CHESSMEN

"They don't keep this room so tidy as the other,' Alice thought to herself, as she noticed several of the chessmen down in the hearth among the cinders: but in another moment, with a little `Oh!' of surprise, she was down on her hands and knees watching them. The chessmen were walking about, two and two!

`Here are the Red King and the Red Queen,' Alice said (in a whisper, for fear of frightening them), `and there are the White King and the White Queen sitting on the edge of the shovel -- and here are two castles walking arm in arm..."

--Ch. 1: Through the Looking Glass

The challenge this week is again the brainchild of DT member Lynne-to use some aspect of the game of chess! You might want to use a checkerboard pattern, or feature a King, Queen, Knight or Castle (Rook), or some other aspect of the game we haven't thought of - we just need to be able to clearly see CHESS in your creation!

We are THRILLED to announce that there's a prize this week, too! Thanks to our generous sponsor, PAPER MANIAC, this week, they are giving away a set of Artistic Outpost Alice in Wonderland mini-stamps AND a sheet of E.A.D. Designs Stickerz! How awesome is that?

Here's my inspiration for this week ...

The checkerboard floor comes from Fune-stock over on Deviant Art... isn't it AWESOME! THANKS Trace for telling me to use it!! :D
The Alice image is one that I drew up... having looked at lots of different Alice images on the web I took inspiration from a number of them and drew up this little cutie! I hope you like her!

POP on over to Oh, Alice to see all the rest of the amazing DT creations!!

Checkmate! Have YOU met your match? You have until FRIDAY, October 29th to enter your creation and throw your hat (or should I say, crown?) in the ring for this awesome PAPER MANIAC prize this week! The winner will be announced with the next challenge!!
See you soon!

Enveloped in Farm Fresh Friday

Good afternoon! It's time for another Farm Fresh Friday with The Greeting Farm!

For this challenge - Kim Nath had a great idea to incorporate envelopes into the challenge. You can create a card using a pocket or envelope template, decorate your envelope, anything goes as long as there is some sort of envelope.

So I decided to make an envelope card... I think I will stuff it with images and offer it as blog candy..Leave a comment here to let me know you'd like to enter the draw!!

I used Timmy with Candy Corn one of the gorgeous new Critters from the October release!

Here is the back of my card...

Sweet November in October!

Good afternoon!!
I was so excited last week to receive a newsflash from Deb at Debs Creations last week to say she was having a sale on these gorgeous Sweet November Mermaids.. I just adore them and so I went to look and what do you know a couple of them jumped up and splashed into my basket! LOL! Anyway... meet Pearl Tidepool and Seamoor Turtle.

These gorgeous images Pearl and Seamoor are the creation of the lovely Amy Young and this is what she wrote about them...
"Pearl has traveled all the way from the Indian ocean and her little pal, Seamoor decided to tag along. This fun loving pair of friends love to ride the currents and dance through the waves. Pearl is always the life of any undersea party... all the fish love her! It must be the hilarious jokes she always tells... fish just love to laugh, ya know! ;) "

I am feeling a little nostalgic looking at that little turtle.. reminds me of the BIG turtle Guy and I saw whilst Scuba diving at Lord Howe Island last year (about NOW) ... ooh that was a fun and relaxing holiday!!!

Anyway, Thanks for popping past! Talk soon!!

Mad for Markers :: New Challenge

Good afternoon. Time for my Mad for Markers post today.... Sorry I am late ... combination of many things.. but the important thing I guess is that I made it and have a project to share with you today!

It's time for a new challenge at Mad for Markers and the new challenge is to create "anything but a card" ... could perhaps be a home decor item??

I have had this frame with Bible verses in it for some time now.. Thanks to my good friend Bec who gave it as a b'day pressie one year... but I have not put a photo in the right side of it and have not known what to put there... but Now I know... I coloured up this Inky girl praying and thought she would go well beside those bible passages of encouragement...

Now I just have to work out a prominent place to display this :D
The Copic colours used were..
Skin: E000, E00, E11
Hair: E13, 15, 17, 18
Clothes: R81, 83, 85, Booo, Pink spica
Background: B12, 14, 16, 18 + I added some white gel pen over the blue background ... but still trying to decide whether I like it or not.

Pop on over to Mad For Markers blog to enter our current challenge!

Oh Alice ... CHAPTER 34: Knock, Knock, Knockin' on Wonderland's Door

"Alice laughed so much at this, that she had to run back into the wood for fear of their hearing her; and when she next peeped out the Fish-Footman was gone, and the other was sitting on the ground near the door, staring stupidly up into the sky.

Alice went timidly up to the door, and knocked.

`There's no sort of use in knocking,' said the Footman, `and that for two reasons. First, because I'm on the same side of the door as you are; secondly, because they're making such a noise inside, no one could possibly hear you.' And certainly there was a most extraordinary noise going on within--a constant howling and sneezing, and every now and then a great crash, as if a dish or kettle had been broken to pieces.

`Please, then,' said Alice, `how am I to get in?'
~Chapter 6, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

Hey everyone! It's a beautiful day here in Wonderland (Oh Alice!) and we are BACK with another challenge!

Have you ever felt like Alice? Not sure which door, window, or keyhole will be opened or closed next? Not sure which direction you're going but curiouser and curiouser about them all?

What a PERFECT opportunity to explore some new avenues, and walk through new doors we bring you at Oh, ALice this week. Thats right! Your challenge this week is to create a card or project using a Door, Gate, or Keyhole. Now, you can also get creative and do a gatefold technique, etc. As long as we can see it's a "Gatefold" or that there is a door, gate, or keyhole somewhere on your project! How FUN is this?

The best part? There's no time limit to play this week, so have fun and here's to opening lots of new doors in the future!

I have made a gatefold card... and I tried to make the gate look like a wooden fence/ gate .. so I drew on a fencey background and coloured with Copics.. I used a Creeper from The Greeting Farm as my main image ...

thanks for popping by!!

Watercolouring with Copics + Distressing

Good morning, Yesterday I got some watercolour paper so that I could try this technique I have been meaning to try for AGES!! Using Copics to achieve a watercolour effect! Here are a couple of my attempts below... these are like Take 4/ Take 5... the others went straight to the bin... I still need to practise this but I think I like it!!

I also thought I would distress away the first card after seeing Kristy's Toot on Club Anya and Friends yesterday! Besides..the waterolour effect reminds me of Kristy so perfect to combine them right?? lol

I've experimented a couple of ways.. only common bit is that I have an aquapainter brush that is filled with NOT WATER but colourless blender... and then I use the copic either sparingly* directly onto the paper and use brush over top OR onto an acrylic block then pick it up with the brush and paint it onto the piccy!

What I love about Copics is their vibrancy although at times I love softer pics.. so this is the perfect solution! Thanks for popping by! I am hoping to catch up on my blog commenting today!!

The image I've used is Miss Anya Lounge from The Greeting Farm!!

* NB. If you colour directly onto watercolour paper it will really suck the ink out of your copics!!

Oh Alice ... CHAPTER 34 :: The Mad Tea Party

`And ever since that,' the Hatter went on in a mournful tone, `he won't do a thing I ask! It's always six o'clock now.'
A bright idea came into Alice's head. `Is that the reason so many tea-things are put out here?' she asked.
`Yes, that's it,' said the Hatter with a sigh: `it's always tea-time, and we've no time to wash the things between whiles.'
`Then you keep moving round, I suppose?' said Alice.
`Exactly so,' said the Hatter: `as the things get used up.'
`But what happens when you come to the beginning again?' Alice ventured to ask.
~Chapter 7, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
Yippee... half the world is going into autumn now which is perfect for tea, for us here down under it's SPRING... still good for tea if you ask me!! :D

Your challenge this week is to explore things that could make up your tea-time activity. Use tea bag folding in the construction of your project. This is a great resource: Tea Bag Folding. Anything relating to time would pair perfectly with this challenge, but isn't a requirement! Show us your fab folding abilities, doing it Alice-style!

Check out the delectable samples from the Twisted Thirteen! See them on The Oh Alice blog!

Some fun crafting

On Thursday I went to a family friends house and did art/ craft with E as she did not want to go to Floriade with everyone else! We had a lot of fun - colouring all day long! I got some DT work done which was AWESOME!

I went back again on Friday so that K could also have another play with my wonderful Copic markers :D She had a list of people to make cards for and looked like she would not have time to make herself something... so I did instead... This is what I made....

I masked and stamped four images from The Greeting Farm ... in funky coloured Memento ink... I then coloured them in nice bright colours! Of course I had to (was asked to) use the dotted background technique and I love this grass technique so had to pop that on! K loved those Inkadinkado sentiment stamps (I do too) and so I added some on!

So I had a bit of fun with this .. Hope you are all having a good weekend! We have a long weekend here in NSW! YAY!!! :D

Oh Alice ... CHAPTER 33 :: DICTIONARY of Nonsense

Alice didn't dare to argue the point, but went on: `-- and I thought I'd try and find my way to the top of that hill -- '

`When you say "hill,"' the Queen interrupted, `I could show you hills, in comparison with which you'd call that a valley.'
`No, I shouldn't,' said Alice, surprised into contradicting her at last: `a hill can't be a valley, you know. That would be nonsense -- '
The Red Queen shook her head, `You may call it "nonsense" if you like,' she said, ` but I've heard nonsense, compared with which that would be as sensible as a dictionary!'
--Ch. 2: Through the Looking Glass
