Cute Card Thursday :: Patterned Paper
OK... here is my last card for today... It is for the Cute Card Thursday Challenge.
I used a Pink Petticoat image - I love this one (Lilli) with the cupcake!!
So - I used patterned paper as required (and I also some ribbon).. It's quite simple but I like it!
I love this sentiment that came with the download too!
"it's your birthday - eat something cute"
Have a LOVELY WEEKEND ... :)

Stamp Something :: Sketch Challenge
This was my first card today... I spent all morning 'Stamping' ... yesterday my friend at work lent me her box of stamps for the weekend! oooh ... how exciting ... so I had to "try them all out"!!!
This card For the Stamp something sketch challenge.... I'm not that keen on it - I think I tried to put too many different colours in it and even after ironing the ribbon it still does not sit properly!!
I like the sketch .. just not what I did with it! Maybe I'll try it again some other time!

60th Birthday card :: Gumnut girly
Here is a card I made for a friend of my mothers, the instructions that I was given from Mum were that she likes natives (Australian) and is living on a property now... I first made one card without an image just some patterned paper I made and a ribbon and "Happy Birthday" then Mum said that she wanted me to draw something for it... "some natives, some bush, a girl with a hat??" Ahhhh ... How do I do this???
So I got to sketching some natives, eucalyptus, christmas bells... and then as I was looking at them I thought I'd draw a gumnut hat on a girl... and so I drew a girl and a boy... I have just used the girl on this card... I would like to do a whole series of images on this theme...
The gumnut hat has been used before, by May Gibbs for her gumnut babies in the classic Snugglepot and Cuddlepie books... I used to love those book as a child :)
the lady the card is for has just turned 60... I have surreptitiously included some '60s' along the barbed wire at the sides of the card!!

Blog hopping and Candy
I'm at it again... my latest sport of blog hopping... I am just amazed at the amount of talent out there and the LOVELY blogs and creations :)
Some great blogs I like to look at often are: Katharina and Marlene. They both make AMAZING cards :)
Well I've been seeing these stamps (Sweet Ebony) that really take me back to my childhood...these Beautiful stamps remind me of Holy Hobby (who I grew up with on my curtains and sheets)
so, I was excited today to find (through Marlene's blog) the website of the Creator and Illustrator of Sweet Ebony - Elisabeth. Incredibly Awesome :)
I think I may have to visit Sugar Nellie to go shopping sometime
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BLOG CANDY -
in my travels I found out that Heidi is generously giving out some lovely scrummy blog candy ... including a Hanglar & Stanglar stamp - WOW! Go and check out her blog!
Another talented card maker :) she has some LOVELY cards!!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My sister has started a website to show and sell some of her paintings... check it out here
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Michelle is also giving away some yummy looking blog candy here! Congratulations on your 5000 (+ many more now) hits Michelle!!! :)

Cute Card Thursday :: Travel
Here is my card for the Cute Card Thursday challenge this week....
I would LOVE to have a Tilda stamp (and especially this one) so of course I had to enter this week :)
I would LOVE to have a Tilda stamp (and especially this one) so of course I had to enter this week :)
Dottie says Thanks
The challenge on Dottie's world this week was "Double up"...
Here is my attempt... This is Dottie painting herself!!
- I superimposed a smaller Dottie into the painting!! I coloured most of the images on the computer ... but our black ink is running out so I had to outline it with a pen and I added some sparkle gel pen highlights as well!!
I thought I'd double up' with challenges too and enter this for the
"Stamp Something" challenge too... so this is my "thanks" card!!
Thanks for looking :)
not a card this time!
This is the painting I finished off on the weekend for my sister! It's one of those works that definitely looks better from a distance!
I "fell in love with" the Eiffel Tower when we were in Paris last year and I have always loved Carousels... so this scene with the Gypsies just 'had' to be captured!

Graduation
My sister graduated today... here is the card which I made for her... I drew my own graduation girl as I did not have an appropriate stamp.... The reason I have not been properly online or crafting over the weekend is because I was finishing off a painting to give to her as a graduation present... I will post a picture of it tomorrow as I forgot to photograph it before wrapping it!!

Paper Pieced Dottie
This "Dottie" Card is for the challenge at Dottie's world... How fun - they are going to have a challenge every week! so, the first one??
Set by Louise :: "I want you to make a card or layout using paper piecing on any Dottie or George image, but that's not all! I want you then to use the same paper as part of your card's background.
I used "Salon Dottie" from the "Fun Time Dottie" download! I used two separate papers for the paper piecing (this was my first attempt at paper piecing) and then Matted the image on the same papers!!

Challenges!!
Here are two creations I made for my friend's 40th yesterday... Before making them I decided to make them for the following challenges this week....
2. Notepad cover - never made one of these before - that's a FIRST!
FIRST: I rarely use GREEN on my work ... so not a huge fan, but I think it turned out OK ... I just bought the green ink yesterday as my friend having the birthday is from Ireland and likes green! I made my own paper (thanks for the idea - Robyn!) that's a FIRST for me (I had many attempts and was not liking them so kept on and on)!
Thanks for the challenges!!
and thanks if you have read down this far on this long post!! :)
AND a BIG THANKS to Karen at Charmed Cards and Crafts as she was so helpful in finding my Funtime Dotti order and resending the download too me after I LOST everything on my computer!! I am so stoked that I can use Dottie again!
This card is for the Cute Card Thursday Challenge
"Challenge 9 - Gems and Jewels
This week our challenge is to use gems or jewels on your card, it's as easy as that!"
the above card does fit in as I do not usually use those colours... but,"Challenge 9 - Gems and Jewels
This week our challenge is to use gems or jewels on your card, it's as easy as that!"
GREAT ... I just bought some of these about 1-2 weeks ago and have barely used them... I used some "skittles"/ "gem dots" and some stick on gems for my card. MAKE SURE YOU check out this fantastic challenge site... there are some spectacular cards from the DT there!!
The second challenge site is brand new (very exciting!!!) Have a look at the site and see the lovely examples from the DT at:
STAMP SOMETHING - "OK, now to the challenge! This whole endeavor is a first for all of us, so in keeping with the theme of "Firsts," our challenge this week will be "First Somethings." Challenge yourself to try something entirely new. Attempt a new layout or color combination or a new technique or fancy fold/card style that you've been wanting to try but have been putting off. You could also just keep with the theme of "Firsts" and make a card for a first birthday, a first baby, a first house, a first car, or any other first you can think of. Keep it as simple or as complicated as you'd like."

Happy Mother's Day!!
I made this card for my Mum for Mother's day.... I was going to use one of the stamps I had but then decided to make it a bit more personal and so:
I drew each of the 4 girls in my family!!
I drew us each doing something that we did as kids (+/or do now),
photographed the drawings and then played around in photoshop elements editing them... printed them and coloured them...
and added them along with some CS, stickers and gel pen additions to the card....
This was a long process but I was quite pleased with the end result!!
HAPPY Mother's day MUM! I am thankful for your many years of love and sacrifice... I think you did a wonderful job bringing up 4 girls!!

I have not really had time to do any cards .. been too busy and then feeling unwell also... so there are no french cards to see yet... I also meant to write in the last post that I would throw in some stamped images... as I am so disorganised I am going to give another week for my blog candy...
So spread the word :) you now have until the 17th May!
I have made one card (and it took me a while too!) but I will not post it until Mother's day... just in case Mum checks the blog :)

2. Spread the word about my candy by posting on your blog.
Make sure you leave me a comment so that I can check out your blog.
You have 1 week ... I'll randomly draw a winner on Saturday 10th May!!

Tagged + update on the computer
Thanks for your messages... Computer update :: I have a new hard drive and I'm praying that the data recovery people can recover the data from my old hard drive which of course I had not backed up!! :( Lost all my photos, data, and digital images!! :P So sad!!
Well.. Lainy tagged me almost a week ago now ... I had typed up some answers which are now gone, so I'll start again....
1. If a movie was being made of your life who would you like to be cast to play yourself? and why?
mmm ... difficult ... not really sure, maybe Lauren Graham - she can speak really fast (and I've just finished season 7 of Gilmore girls)
2. You are spending a whole month on a dessert island for charity and you have to choose your favourite celebrity to spend the first two weeks with & your least favourite celebrity to spend the second two weeks with, who would they be & why?
I don't really have favourite celebrities etc (sorry - boring!)
3. What are your three favourite crafting products?
atm, RIBBON, stamps and eyelets .. bound to change again soon... but I love ALL crafting products!!!
4. If you could invent something to do anything what do you think it would be?
a robot to do the housework!
5. What are the last three books that you read?
The bible, A thousand splendid suns, Eagle on the Hill
6. Qvc or create & Craft? Never heard of either till now :)
7. Docrafts or Dovecraft or DCWV? as per no.6
8. What is your claim to fame?
I guess I'm not that famous as I can't think of one! :)
Now I have to tag 5 people ... I'll tag some more of my blogging sisters...
